API/NPRA Security Vulnerability Assessment Methodology
The National Petrochemical & Refiners Association and the American Petroleum Institute and have published the API/NPRA Security Vulnerability Assessment Methodology for the petroleum and petrochemical industries. This methodology constitutes an excellent approach for assessing security vulnerabilities at petroleum and petrochemical industry facilities. The information has been developed in cooperation with government and industry and is intended to help refiners, petrochemical manufacturers, and other segments of the petroleum industry maintain and strengthen facility security. The report is available for download or a hard copy can be purchased by contacting Maurice McBride at McBride@npra.org.
NPRA White Paper: Hurricane Security Operations
On June 1, 2006, NPRA published the “NPRA White Paper: Hurricane Security Operations.” The White Paper serves as a valuable crisis planning and response guide for refineries and petrochemical facilities in the event of a major hurricane or other natural or man-made disaster. The NPRA white paper is a living document that can and will be updated periodically, as industry continues to learn the lessons of past crises, and continues to improve upon its already impressive ability to get facilities back on-line and operating safely.
