How to Participate

If you are an NPRA member company…

STEP gives NPRA member companies the opportunity to contribute to the future of the refining and petrochemical industry by helping elementary school teachers inspire tomorrow’s scientific and engineering talent pool. Each regular member can nominate one or more teachers near their facilities as a way to maintain relationships with the community and build good will. Companies cover the costs of travel and lodging. NPRA covers the cost of instruction and teaching materials. For additional information on how to participate, contact Susan Yashinskie at susany@npra.org.

If you are a teacher…

STEP is open to elementary school science teachers wanting to make science more fun and more meaningful for their students. NPRA provides the supplies and instructional costs, and (if needed) an NPRA member company will sponsor your travel and lodging. Participants will receive a stipend and two graduate credits upon completion of the program. STEP is held annually at the end of June with a follow up session in January. Interested teachers should contact Susan Yashinskie at susany@npra.org for additional program information.
